Follow this step-by-step procedure to make your email list active & healthy again.
Step 1:
Establish a relationship by sending a re-engage email. Your re-engage email is going to warm up your audience. Be authentic, tell them the reason why you weren’t in touch, tell them what they can expect from you in the future, and give the option to either whitelist or unsubscribe right in that email.
Step 2:
Send at least 6-7 emails over two weeks, aiming at building a relationship with your email list. Content may include educating about your product or brand, informational emails, giveaways, offers, or simply a story. Always start with consumable content and then slowly go to the promotional category.
Step 3:
Two weeks have passed. You have sent plenty of emails by now to your email list. Now identify and segmentize them based on their engagement behavior.
Step 4:
Retarget your active list through email campaigns and your non-active subscribers separately through ads.
Step 5:
Your list should be warmed by now. It would be ideal to start sending emails to your email list with a reasonable offer that runs for 3-5 days.
Step 6:
Set up a funnel for your non-active subscribers, send them some more emails, and systematically clean up your list
Tips to remember:
Be authentic
Be brutally honest about why you didn’t send emails before, why you will start now, and what you will include in those emails.
You need to be careful in assessing when your list is ready to buy from you.
Consistent A/B testing to increase your open rate, click rate, revenue.
Test out your subject lines, your color, CTA, tone of content, etc.
